WEEE Directive – Sister-Directive of RoHS

The European Council brought up an official announcement on 13th February of 2003 for two directives, WEEE and RoHS, which poses a serious impact on Electronic and Electrical industries. WEEE directive requires producers to be responsible in financing the take-back and recycling of waste of EE product that will be put onto the EU market after 13th August, 2005. Producers are not allowed to put their products on the market unless they have fulfilled their obligation according to the national WEEE regulation.

Nowadays, all EU member states have completed their transpositions of WEEE directive into national regulation. However, it can be a fatal challenge for manufacturers to cope with so many environment-friendly directives or regulations.
