China - 27/07/07 Nestlé(China)Co.,Ltd. NOW IS THE TIME TO EVALUATE THE COMPLIANCE ON HUMAN REOURCES, SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT PRACTICES - SGS Cooperation with Nestlé on Project CARE, Tracy Li, Beijing July 12, 2005, Nestlé Executive Board decided to develop a Nestlé Program called Project CARE, which is the Nestlé Corporate Compliance Audit Program of Human Resources, Safety, Health and Environment Practices. The purposes for implementing the Project CARE are:
Nestlé has entrusted Project CARE audits to 3 major international auditing companies. In China, SGS-CSTC (SGS joint venture in China) is selected to perform audit due to the knowledge of local legislation; independence; global network and local resources; rich experience in food industry. Before the running of Project CARE, Nestlé and SGS had a comprehensive communication on Project CARE in-depth understanding, Audit Procedure, Audit Method, etc. The project started in 2006 and continued in 2007 with Nestlé factories being audited first, and in the future, it may extend to the co-manufacturers and the supply chain. Through the audits, SGS proves that Nestlé China is paying highly attention and compliance on national and international legislations; customer needs; human rights protection; human resources policies; safety policy; environmental protection, etc. Nestlé is a good example to demonstrate compliance on Human Resources, Safety, Health and Environment Practices and their commitment “Good Food, Good Life”. They also quite clear about a serious consequences of non compliances: injuries, accident costs, production interruption, deterioration on company image … As a member of management team in the company, have you ever evaluated the compliance of Human Resources, Safety, Health and Environment practice in your company as well as risk involved?
